TOWN OF ALMA BOARD MEETING MINUTES

July 22, 2026

Board members present: Brian Flick, Mathew Murray, Tom Gearing, Don Forsting.

Member absent: Kathy Patterson

Meeting called to order by Chairman Flick at 7:00 PM.

Minutes from June 17, 2026 were read into the record. Motion by Matt Murray, second by Tom Gearing to approve the minutes as read. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s report:  Current balance $237,087.95 less $28600 reserved for equipment, 5,450 building reserve for a cash on hand balance of $203,037.95   Motion by Gearing, second by Murray to approve report.  Motion carried.

Motion by Murray, second by Gearing to authorize payments for the month. Motion carried.

Citizen comments: Clerk shared wage survey information with board members. Xcel Energy informed Town of maintenance work happening on power lines within the township. Email shared on upcoming proposed work on US Hwy 12 between Merrillan and BRF-projected work date of 2031.

  1. Road work update: Scott Construction work and shared overages between bid amount and invoiced amount. Withheld $11,200 from total bill until issue is resolved. If unresolved, may have to remove single chip seal project to stay within budget. Struck & Irwin should be doing their approved work soon. Jeffrey Road project-grinding, ditching and grade work to be competed by September 15th, with paving completed by October 15th. Waiting on approval of Sand Rd bridge project.
  2. Junk ordinance-Followup letters will be sent by Attorney Radcliffe to those not in compliance.
  3. Discuss/act on loader/backhoe purchase-Looked at several options for replacement. Most are on auction sites. Suggestion by Murray to put a purchase cap of $60,000 for available items. Motion by Gearing, second by Murray to approve a bidding cap of $60,000. Motion carried. Matt will get set up to bid on behalf of the Town.
  4. Next meeting scheduled for August 19, 2026.

Motion by Gearing, second by Murray to adjourn. Adjourned at 8:16 PM.
